I started showing in 1982 with Rokeover Victory-Nelson, who lived until he was 15 years old. Ryseford Lady Lheanna- Abbey (Kerryfair Night Fever & Ryseford Lady Galadriel) followed gained her JW & 1 Res CC. She produced 2 litters including our fabulous Carlequin Candy Man- Harvey(Bardonhill Supergrass). Three other bitches followed, Jennison Brocade-Sophie, Carlequin Country Lady-Rosie & Titiandale My Fair Lady-Millie. Then came Danaway Aviator, Hugo, who was taken away at 7 years by gastric torsion. Next came the first of our three Kirkavaghs, Kirkavagh Frivola - Lola, she has delighted us by winning 1 CC & 2 Res CC's. Kirkavagh Stravinsky,1 Res CC, our adorable Travis, tragically taken from us last year aged 5. Kirkavagh The Minstrel, Hudson, who won his first Gundog Puppy Group at 8 months old & continues to be succesful at all levels. I am looking forward to giving CC's for the first time at Bournemouth Championship Show in August this year.
Just a word of warning to other setter owners, my nine year old Irish was bitten by an Adder last weekend. She spent several hours at the vets, fighting for her life. It has taken a week for the swelling to disappear & she still has a slight cough.
Take care whilst out walking in this changeable weather.
Hi there Karen
How dreadful, I hope that she will be back to her old self soon...when I lived down south I was always afraid of Adder's biting my girls, but up here they are as rare as hens teeth. But saying that we are plagued by frogs here (I know there is no connection) but they are out and mating now, most unusual..I think that everything is stirring early this year, we even have hedgerows green, usually not for another couple of months, so perhaps the snakes are thinking that it is much later than it is, unfortunately the change in climate may make them breed a bit sooner, heaven forbid!!!
Dee and the girls......see you at Crufts
My dog was fulley recovered and I am sure that yours will be too. Just be careful excercising her first weeks. I wish you good luck and I am happy to be your friend!
Hi Karen,
Thank you for putting the blog about the adder....after all I am not that far from you.I know there are lots of them in the New Forest and we live on the edge of the forest so I will watch out .Thank you again and see you at shows!
