Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

I just wanted to pay tribute to our wonderful Labrador, Bumble, who is such a good ambassador for the breed and a most treasured member of our family. Bumble is now 14 years old, but in very good form, and still ruling our household with so much love and entertainment.
Everyone who meets her, adores her, whether two-legged or four. She just loves puppies - newly born she will climb into the whelping box, and attempt to mother and feed them, and a little older, well she will go to the toy box and pull out something that she wafts under the puppies, to make them play with her.
Bumble gained her show Championship title, as well as a Retrieving title. One of her greatest moments in retrieving still amazes us. The scene is set in very bad weather with the river gushing down. The retrieve was across the river, and two Cocker Spaniels sent before Bumble were almost washed away. When sent across, Bumble herself was swept way down stream, spun around and actually knocked her head on a pylon sticking out of the water, but she climbed the bank, ran back up and found the bird. Here, when returning from a retrieve, the dogs have to come out of the water in line with the handler. Using her brain, she knew that if she jumped into the river where she now was, although directly opposite John, she would be swept downstream too far and would then have to run back up to him, so she went further up the bank before jumping in, and with the flow of the river, she came out of the water right in line with John. Of course, because of our rules, she lost points, but it was amazing how Bumble actually worked out the situation before executing her actions.
Bumble just loves to be the centre of attention, consequently, loves to play the fool. Dressing up in her Christmas outfit, as a reindeer, complete with tail and hooves and jingly bells - well - she is in her element.
I cannot praise Bumble highly enough. We have had so much enjoyment and laughter from her over the years.
Thankyou Bumble for being so wonderfully you!

sweet oldie Bumble, thanks Myra for sharing the photos and stories. (btw, sounds very much like my Odin, still using her brain all the time.)

Thankyou Everyone. Bumble is just so wonderful, and at 14, we appreciate all the time we have. Just wish they were immortal. Cannot envisage life here at Amhurst without her - to guide the Irish babies into life, and to keep us all in line!!

Such lovely pictures. I love the name too and she looks such a special darling of a dog. I love all my dogs so much but sometimes one does shine through as being a bit special and like you Myra I wish they were immortal but to have them around into such old age is a bonus.
