Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

A few years ago I was privileged to be given a painting, a gift from my good friend, Gunilla Ek in Sweden. This painting was done for me by Wendy Hanby, a very talented artist and owner of some beautiful Setters, of the Chantstor prefix, situated on the edge of Dartmoor. I also have Irish Setter bronze models that Wendy has done herself, and I well remember the enjoyment of my visit to her home some years ago, with Gunilla, Tony Pascoe and David and Pat Pike. Wendy's Irish Setter male, Duncarreg Red River at Chantstor, was absolutely stunning, and with one CC to his credit, the Pike's had success showing him for Wendy.

Indeed a very talented lady and I have many Christmas Cards which are prints of her original paintings. I also have a bronze she made of Sh Ch Stephenshill Gamebird which is a lovely model. We live in neighbouring counties and she can still be seen sitting at the ringside watching the setter judging and I have picked her up and travelled to a show and showed Duncarreg Red River at Chantstor for her on that occasion. He was unlucky not to be made up to a Sh Ch but he was not campaigned fully at his peak due to David not being well enough during that time. Wendy is such an interesting person to have a conversation with and she also shares my interests of ponies and horses. I will hopefully see her on Saturday at the SW Gundog show which is not far from her home.

Angela, please give Wendy, My Best Regards. Such a wonderful person - I could have stayed with her all day!!! As I said, Red River was absolutely super, and to this day I wish he had been here in my garden!!! Tony is a good friend of both of ours and of course I have known the Pike's forever.
