Hi Carmel,I would recommend that you attend a field trial first so you can see what is required. If you dont feel fit you neednt go to a grouse trial but there are also pheasant trials where the going would be easier.
On this site there was a forum titled" the working Irish setter" started on the 24th june 08.I gave Deborah some advice on how to get started.Best of luck.

I had an idea that Vincent O'Brian was a Red and White setter man but i may be wrong.?

Vincent O'Brien is a Doberman breeder/exhibitor.
Collette, you are thinking of Vincent Brennan.
Sorry I have not been more active here, but I have been very busy spending most of my time this week running around to and from hospital with my Aunt & Uncle. Just spent 26 hours in Casualty with my Aunt. Thankfully she is now in a Nursing Home for a couple of weeks.
Early start tomorrow morning, as I am flying down to Kerry for Canon Doherty's funeral.
Right now, I'm off to bed for a well earned sleep!

Sorry to hear about your problems, it is always very difficult with elderly relatives, I have one of those myself. Thankfully healthy at the moment..Hope that you got a good sleep..you can do anything if you can get a good nights sleep...;o))

Thanks, Trudy. I tried to find the name on the IKC website but it seems they don't list show judges...?
Very sorry to hear about Canon Doherty - such an important figure in the world of the Red & White Setters.
All the best!
