My first Irish Setter, Penny, came to me via the dog warden in 1987. My boyfriend owned an Irish Setter and thought that I could care for Penny over the Easter holiday until the dog pound could take her. She had been straying for some time and was a very sorry little girl - she never made it to the pound but stayed with me for 10 years. I loved her and when the opportunity came to have a dog in 2001 it was no contest, it had to be an Irish Setter. Jim Parker and I own eight year old Ruby, Lucy 5 and Georgie 2 and a half. Georgie is a reluctant show girl but we make it up to her with long walks in the woods and the beach and holidays in the Lakes and Scotland.
Thanks for that Maggie, getting closer to her JW keeping our fingers crossed and everything else! Perhaps we will get to have a chat at a future show.
Bye for now Julie

Hi Maggie,
Great site. Been checking it out for a while and now that we've finally got another Irish I feel entitled to sign up.
Tom is one of three cats. The other two are quite different. One stands up and fights and the other flees.
Enjoyed the Derwent Waters video. Will have to make time to watch some more.
Hi Maggie - It certainly does get cold here, in fact many days this Winter, with thick frosts, and the Morso burning all day and night. I am actually wearing an English Musto top with a thermal on underneath!!!

Thank you Maggie, he was at his first show in Wales this weekend, came 2nd out of 2, but he is only just 6 months so wasn't expecting anything else. But he stood well, let the judge go over him and moved well, so I was really pleased. Had some really positive comments about how promising he is if he continues to develop as he is. But you know me, I love him no matter how things turn out !
Thanks Maggie. I'm so excited.I've been wanting a new puppy for ages and to have one right now couldn't be better. She has been a good girl not much windging so far, I'm putting her in a crate to sleep and eat at the moment. I think she's took to it very well. The 2 girls have only been introduced from behind a baby gate or when she is in her crate at the moment but I'll work on that today.
Thank goodness this rain has stopped for the moment, Its been raining here from 3.00pm Wednesday to the early hours of this morning non-stop.

Hi there Maggie,
Thanks for the comment, I agree with you, they just seem to keep bouncing back, whatever you throw at them Jas is no exception, although I am not going to let them do all the procedures that they want, At least 6 more anesthetics and one nasty operation, but I am going to give the vaccine a go.
Thanks for your thoughts, all the best Dee and the gang
A warm "thank you" for your welcome message Maggie!
David (my husband) joined this absolutely terrific ES site, and cannot spend a minute away from it, so I couldn't share his password to enjoy full access to the site and participate, hence me joining. This site is absolutely fantastic, I can't stop looking at all your wonderful dogs pictures, videos and interesting comments, it is so addictive..... A big cuddle to your 3 wonderful dogs, and a warm hello to you of course!
Great that we are friends now, thanks for the invitation.
Are you having a great weekend with your girls? I was watching all your pictures and no doubt the Girls have a good time and a good life too! They are all very beautiful. Great pictures too!
I just noticed, it was your birthday not that long ago, so Happy Belated Birthday Maggie! did you get a special kiss from your girls?
All the very best
Hi Maggie, I'm checking in here from my holiday in Canada, so no I'm not at Darlington. I wish I was though, Because it's one of my local shows, I haven't missed it for quite a long time. I imagine you must be showing there, if so, good luck and have a good day. Bye for for now, my husband and I are off exploring the area, there some great walks for the dogs, it feels a bit redundant though, walking without dogs don't you think.
Hello Maggie
Nice to receive your comments on "Grace" our latest addition from the Heathclare litter. She is a sweet girl and so far is making herself at home with "Molly",another Heathclare girl.
Best wishes Jennifer

Hi there Maggie
Yes that is so true, it was this site that put me onto the trail of this particular vaccine, and I was given some really good connections to a lot of the data re the vaccine, it was very informative, it is good be know just what the vets are on about when they start talking, to the extent that the hospital staff thought that I had a veterinary background, and as they said they don't have to explain everything i already knew what they were on about..
But I felt that sharing what I knew was a must, it may help some others that are going through this or about to go through it, I hope that they never need this info, but at least it is there,
All the best and thanks for the comments, Jas is coping well
Hi Maggie yes we are keeping a girl puppy for show. We was also hoping the other puppy girl would go to some one who would show her. But yet to find that home for her. There will also be two of the boys going to show homes. That will make very interesting times to come.
I dont think you would be disapointed Maggie! Every one who has been to see the puppies all like her. Thats why my Mum & Dad really really want her to go to a show home.
Thankyou, Maggie! Yes, it was indeed the most perfect Christmas present to have them home on that day! And in those days it was three months in quarantine!!! Now it is only 30 days.
