Show ring grooming,

Started this discussion. Last reply by Lesley Gilks Aug 16, 2013. 6 Replies

Is it a requirement that neck and ears be shaved for the show ring. It doesn't look natural and I am not fond of the look. I am rather new to show events with my boy and girl and recently had my girl…Continue

We just found out that several of Blues siblings have bee allergies, two ended up in the hospital for a couple of days. My vet says benadryl, but I have been reading that in severe cases the throat…Continue

Most beautiful dog breed?

People are strange. I just read about survey results on peoples response to "What do you think is the most beautiful dog breed?" Just to show what poor taste people have, the Irish Setter ranked…Continue

About Me:
Many years ago in the 70's, I had an Irish but after she passed I never got another what with kids and working. Recently I found a beautiful girl that we may (or may not) decide to have pups in a couple of years after she has all her certs. Meantime, I am interested in finding a second puppy. Grayson (my grandson) wants to learn junior handling and he and the pup would be partners in this endeavor. UPDATE! Got a beautiful little boy from San Ramone California. He has a couple of brothers still available! They are beautiful pups and have seriously good Kinross/Captiva pedigrees.

Heather Russel

Posted on July 21, 2017 at 11:00am 1 Comment

A friend of mine has been looking for the lady he bought an IS puppy from in 2005 and we have been unable to locate her. I fear she may have passed. Her name is Heather Russell, she owned Blue Moons Red Rhett and Blue Moons Crimson Girl.  She lived in Oklahoma or an adjoining state here in the USA. If anyone has any information please send to my email me at  flitter2454@msn.com. He was interested in another dog from that bloodline.

Getting ready to get Ellis OFA on her hips. Can anyone tell me what their Doctor charged to do this? I know the OFA charge is separate, I am curious about the vet bill I have been quoted. Thanks to anyone that can help me.

Innisfail Color Scheme

Posted on August 19, 2013 at 10:00pm 10 Comments

My first Irish, Heather, was a grand-daughter of Innisfail Color Scheme.  Recently during a discussion with other IS folks some one made the comment that he was one of the greatest carriers of PRA in the Irish Setter breed because he was used for stud so frequently. I had never heard this before and would like to know if anyone knows where I could find evidence of this. I am talking to fellow old timers out there to see if this was a valid claim or more BS. Heather had clear vision till the…

Hi Pat glad to accept your friends request, loved the photo of your dog in the fridge, typical setter, a friend years ago had a setter she lived in a shared house, the dog got into the fridge while she was out not only did he eat her food but the food of every one in the house, she didnt know this and feed him which he also eat, then in middle of the night threw up (",)

Yes I believe it! She'd eat till she popped if it was people food. My daughter wants to do a portrait of me with my fur babies, that will be an adventure.
