Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
Coming Home
For Conaign to come from Canberra to Hobart was an enormous undertaking, but a friend of his breeder's was coming to Tassie on business and agreed to escort him. This way the dog travels for free.
The younger three foster children were away on holiday, so only the older ones came to the airport to meet the new addition. None of us had ever seen an Irish setter puppy, only the adults and I think we all expected a…

I don't have complete results so I've only written what I am certain of. OK so first here is the photo of the place which is really really lovely. These shows are a must for many of us for years. The atmosphere is very special, lots of partying, relaxed atmosphere - all in all very different from most of the shows I know. There were around 40 entries each day. If you look closely you'll see a white tent. The show was located infront of it. And of course one should not forget the "honorary…

The Canine Control Council (Queensland) displayed a large poster of Beau prominently at the entrance to the Dog Pavilion throughout the Royal National Dog Show from 9 to 18 August 2007. The RNA Dog Show is held once a year in every State of Australia. Channel 10 News interviewed the CCC Queensland Councillor who organised this for me and focussed on Beau's poster. The CCC Qld has never done this before, but no one in…

Unlike some of the Irish Setters here, Chester does not appreciate water. He loves playing in mud, but will walk around a puddle of water every time. Well, today at the dog park, he ended up in the river. I didn't see what happened, so I don't know for sure how he got in there, but I think he must have fallen in as he was running along the riverbank. Its possible that another dog was running with him or towards him and he zigged instead of zagged - LOL.
Anyway, after I heard a splash,…

My puppies are 8 months old now and sooo big! I've added pictures of them taken at their first show 2 months ago.
Nitro got his first reserve last weekend at a show in Lacey WA. His brother, Buddy, beat him in the 6-9 month class the next day. Not to be outdone, their sister, Shelby, in Colorado won her sweepstakes class this past weekend at the Irish Setter Club of Colorado specialty.

Well away we go to BC for 3 glorious weeks....just my husband, myself and 2 Irish girls. Hopefully this year we'll find more campgrounds that are dog friendly. My pet peeve is paying an extra $15.00 a night/dog, they can't use the facilities so why treat them differently. While in BC we'll be taking in an Agility Trial in Comox (Roadsters Agility) its always nice to trial somewhere different, people are always amazed when they see an Irish Setter!

Being it is summer and I've never been to Monte Negro I figured out it was a good idea to try it. So Friday morning we sat in the car and took an almost 1000 km drive there. We used the new highway in Croatia and then the coastal road as far as Dubrovnik. Then we turned into Bosnia and voila - Monte Negro. As name descibes it - rocks and rocks and rocks.... We stayed at a lovely hotel at the site of the Sunday shows in the mountain region of Monte Negro. It was a…

This time I was on the show not as handler of my irish, but as handler of the "pigs" as I call miniature bullterriers and standard Bullterriers. But right after showing them I ran to the ring with irish setters to have a look at some beautiful dogs and to take some photos. It was a great opportunity to meet some old friends I haven't seen for a while. Johanna, Piret and Kristina - it was nice to see you there.
I managed to get some photos and…
