We have been counting the game for the Ministry of Forestry with dogs. This is done before the season starts. Large areas in northern parts of Finland have suffered from total failure of brood. This is mainly done by cold summer. I have been hearing the same happen in Norway.

This is a catastrophy for the trials as well...

In this scenery we started

Great photos as allways, and nice to put a face to your name Katariina! For some strange reason, I had pictured you as having dark hair...:-)

Blondes have more fun;-)))
Hey, Kata..did I answer your mail about male dogs for Evita ? Sorry if not. Great pictures...sorry to hear about small numbers of birds in northern europe this fall. How about sweden ?

Can´t remember, its the blond hair that does it ;)), haahaa!
I have decided to use a Scottish import Rushfield Finn. Great result on hips from his 2 imported sisters(both A/A) and we´re waiting for the kennelclubs confirm on Finns hips. The hips left from the vet as A/A...thumbs up the score stays the same!

Nice pictures!
I have heard fro Børselv, Northern Norway that the grouse counting turned out like you say, very bad! Few grouse and small coveys. Probably due to very cold summer. And lot's of rabbits observed this year. But we are going anyway, for 10 days in september :)

Rabbits? Haven´t seen those here...
We have one of our dogs entered in Vadsø trials the 30th of august. We´ll see what they have to offer. I bet no more than experience for the young dog?

In case you meet Espen Bjoerbaek in Vadsoe area, please give him a friendly hug and remind him that his jacket is still down here.;-))) Time to pick it up, I would say and some more hunting. But from his latest sms I understood that he is in charge of NISK now...so no time.
About mating plans...do you really think that one single A hip would help ? How about the hips of 2-3 generations...
Sorry to say, but with the background of the dam's side, I would have VERY cold feet.
Nevertheless, I wish that your dreams may come true !!! All thumbs up.

regards
Christiane

C , the dam´s background is quite the same that is the backgroud of finnish population...so what ever we do here it´s the same. Risks have to be made and I´m prepared to be responsible for it. This is not a dream, it is an outbreeding and we´ll see what comes of it.

By the way, one of Lohmanns Neros(with Remkilens Bookie-Tuk-Tuk) offspring is coming to live quite near us. So I´ll be able to see what those Lohmann-dogs are made of ;-)(with a little spice from Bookie-Tuk-Tuks side)

Thanks Henk, I´ll try to keep up the hunting pictures coming...

Such beautifull pictures, as always :) Great to see the gang working! And I must envy you for living in the greatest of all sceneries. Keep the photos coming and good luck for the breeding plans.

Hmmm, Kata...The official result from the hips is A/A for FINN, dated 8th of august. So again good luck and the wish that your dreams will come true. It was the wish for sound and healthy + fantastic working IS ! I did not say it is an illusion. ;-))

About your 'new neighbour'...must be a female ? As Thore had 11 girls and only one boy after L. Nero.
