SENSATIONAL MATED TO EXQUISITE (for those "horsey" amongst us!!)

I have free-leased my pony mare Ataahua Exquisite back to her breeder & she has been served by the utterly stunning pony stallion Kolbeach Sensational (Imp Aust) but all imported UK lines.  He's 13h, chestnut, no white markings - here's hoping for a filly, as my mare is the last of her line.

His photo is in My Photos.

It won't be my foal (Sob!!) I have free-leased Patch back to her breeder who sadly lost the last mare from that line to colic.  She was gutted - asked me if I would let her "borrow" Patch & I said yes - I know what it's like to see your favourite line die out, so it was a no brainer, really.  Patch is just "going back" to where she was foaled for a while.

He is a simply STUNNING boy!!

Best of luck to the breeder for a filly but a good colt is just as good.   It is very kind of you to do this as your mare will be away for at least 18 months.  I am buying an old Arabian pony mare whose bloodlines go back to a beautiful pony stallion from my childhood more than 40 years ago.  Because the lines are so good, I am planning to put one of my beautiful pure bred Arabian stallions who share the pony stallion of years ago pure bred sire in his pedigree.    All this to preserve beautiful, horses and in the hope of breeding a lovely riding pony for my young daughter to ride in shows.

Indeed it would be a pity to have the line die out... a pity too that you cannot have a foal... may be one day  :-)

How I hope she is in foal to that lovely stallion.  Good luck and let us know her progress please

Wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments above, nicely said.

Mel, as usual you have put it in a nutshell!  The breeder is probably one of the top pony breeders in NZ - her ponies for donkey's years have won everything - they have looks, manners, stunning movement, & the mares breed on for other people (always a sign of good breeding IMHO!).  I couldn't say no to her, it would have been criminal for that line to disappear.
