Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
We always wanted ro see the chalk cliffs on the Island of Rügen and so we headed north through Bavaria, passing the small town of Rothenburg (Two of these teddybears, I call mine :D)
Our first stop was the Wartburg near Eisenach.
It was very hot and Joy was glad, when someone told us where Joy could go for a splash at our next stop in Erfurt.
With 36° in the shade, we only took a few snapshots of the castle Sanssouci in Potsdam and headed back to the climaitized car.
Having arrived at the Baltic Sea on a shady and rainy day, Joy was in paradise!
It was her very first time by the seaside and there were so many new smells and things to discover (like seagulls!). She was truly happy that day!!!
We finally arrived at our destination and absorbed the beautiful scenery of the Jasmund National Park on lengthy walks.
Sometimes I just wonderd what hidden animal Joy could make out (here at Kap Arkona).
Sometimes I could see and share the discovery of sand martins together with her (at Gross Zicker nature reserve).
.
Things that move in or on the water haven't yet lost their fascination to our four legged friend (at the harbour of Sassnitz).
Neither has the wide landscape for us (again Gross Zicker).
On our way back home, we stopped in Berlin, and Joy was once more the delight of a little girl.
We also went to the Bavarian Forest National Park, and ovserved a sadly destroyed forest, due to storms and a bark beetle invasion.
We went up on mount Lusen (1373m) right on the next day and were lucky to do so, as the weather broke down after that.
We would have loved to stay longer but thunder- and hailstorms are not the friends of hikers.
Hope this was not toooo lenghy :-)) All photos © S. & C. Hahn
