I hate that comment that always seems to come up "My________(insert Grandpa, Uncle, Cousin, Aunt etc. here) used to own one when I was a kid, craziest damn dog I ever saw. And yet everyone who knew any setter I had loved them. No more goofy than any…

About Me:
Hello Im Steve, i know live back in the UK with my 2 Spanish born and bred Irish setters. Spirit and Dream(2).
They are uncle and Nephew and also my Dreams.
Im on my 6th Setter, my first i got at 22 when i lived in Stuttgart Germany. Ringo was my first Dream and he went thru quarenteen here in the UK and stayed with me for 16 long years.
Ive had an English and also a rescue Irish from the Setter rescue in Cheshire UK.
I work in youth offending and do alot of work with young people from deprived backgrounds, i use my Dogs to ''break the ice'' with my clients.
And it is interesting how most of these young people have never seen an Irish before.

MY FIRST 3DREAMS. SADLY NOT WITH ME ANYMORE.
RINGO, HARVEY and DREAM. MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.

They say memories are golden.
Well, maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
No one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway,
And heartache make a lane.
I'd walk the path to heaven,
And bring you home again.

Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

Run wild my fine fellows,
Remember the 3 C's.
CHEESE, CHICKEN and CHAPPIE.
THE FIELD OF DREAMS ARE IN FULL BLOOM NOW GUYS.
REMEMBERING THE FUN WE HAD.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE.

When God made the earth and sky,
The flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
And all the birds and bees,
And When his work was finished
Not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this earth of mine
And give each a name."
And so he traveled land and sea
And everywhere he went
A little creature followed Him
Until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
And in the sky and sea,
The little creature said," Dear Lord,
There is not one left for me."
The Father smiled and softly said
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
And call you Dog, my friend."

Spirit and Dream In Yorkshire Englland Now.

Hello again, Setter friends. Well as many of you know I was moving from Spain to the UK with Spirit and Dream. Well we moved back in November last year to the cold but to a more larger dog friendly country.
My 2 Dreams have never seen so many larger dogs or a more doggie friendly nation. Trust me i know what ive expirienced.
We go grousing and Dream has chased and seen his first deer here in Yorkshire. Sheer bliss.
Sadly Spirit didnt adjust to the move as well and appeared lethargic. Then he got… Continue

Hi
Would love to meet up once the puppy has had her injections, where do you walk your dogs? I'm just 5 minutes away from the moors, a great walk, if setter walk that is!! Not going to Spain now, heard too many horror stories on the housing problems.

Hi Steve! As far as I know Rachel and Tony dont have wolfhounds any more. They have the greyhounds, irish setter and weimeraner. I have two setters here at the moment(Cara and Abbey) and are very clever and active types who have Chicago Bear as great grand sire and so far they are fit and healthy!! Love the photo of setter on bike!!;o)

Welcome back to UK, there's no place lke home...
I am hoping to return to the UK, however, do not think this will happen anytime soon because of the depressed housing market...
Your poems bought a few tears, like you and many of us, I have lost through tragic circumstances... The following is another heartbreaker:
IF IT SHOULD BE

IF IT SHOULD BE THAT I GROW FRAIL AND WEAK
AND PAIN SHOULD WAKE ME FROM MY SLEEP,

THEN YOU MUST DO WHAT MUST BE DONE,
FOR THIS LATE BATTLE CANNOT BE WON.

YOU WILL BE SAD, I UNDERSTAND,
DON'T LET YOUR GRIEF THEN, STAY YOUR HAND,

FOR THIS DAY, MORE THAN ALL THE REST,
YOUR LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP STAND THE TEST.

WE'VE HAD SO MANY HAPPY YEARS,
WHAT IS TO COME WILL HOLD NO FEARS.

YOU'D NOT WANT ME TO SUFFER,
SO WHEN THE TIME COMES - PLEASE LET ME GO.

TAKE ME WHERE MY NEEDS THEY'LL TEND,
ONLY STAY WITH ME TILL THE END,

HOLD ME FIRM AND SPEAK TO ME UNTIL MY EYES NO LONGER SEE.

I KNOW IN TIME YOU TOO WILL SEE,
IT IS A KINDNESS THAT YOU DO ME.

ALTHOUGH MY TAIL ITS LAST HAS WAVED,
FROM PAIN AND SUFFERING I'VE BEEN SAVED.

DO NOT GRIEVE THAT IT SHOULD BE YOU
WHO HAS TO DECIDE THIS THING TO DO.

WE'VE BEEN SO CLOSE WE TWO THESE YEARS,
DON'T LET YOUR HEART HOLD ANY TEARS.

All the best and enjoy the UK again and ES...
Susan
