It is with huge sadness that I am reporting the loss of Angel, my aunt and uncles' dog in Canada. He was 13 years old and was very sadly put to sleep on Monday night. He was the first Irish setter that I ever met, and he is the one that not only introduced me to the breed, but got me over my fear of dogs. He was and always will be incredibly special to me. He truly was a living legend.
All my love Angel. Go play at the bridge and…

A great final show after a very quiet year with not much showing for Fionn...
After all the frantic washing, grooming, dinner-making, baby feeding and battling to bed, we almost didn't end up making the hour-long drive to the night-time show, but I'm glad we did. Fionni surprised and thrilled us by winning Best in Group and Best Australian-bred Exhibit in Group under judge Mr B Newman-Sparks.
We went back today for General Specials (in 30 degree heat - yay). The show was…

Your help is needed to
dig up some golden Irish setter history.
Recently a great grand daughter of the first breeder of Menaifrons,
Edgar Rea, asked me to send some old material on this once famous dual kennels. This "
to pass on this history to (grand) children."
Questions rise, like where does the name Menaifron comes from, what happened with kennelbooks when the second breeder
Mary Holt (for a…

Coppersheen 'Delightfulbundle of Joy', called Joy is 18 months old.
She's a wild girl and you still sometimes have to look out for the white speck in her eye or the grin on her face.
Puppy trainer who thought this is a lovely girl, were soon taught otherwise...
However: Instead of just enjoying and destroying the garden,…

We decided to surgically inseminate Amhurst Ballyguerin, with the same "Ibsen" semen we used with Lupin. Everything was done the same way, but very, very disappointingly, Guerin has not conceived.
How lucky are we with the Lupin babies? I will never have to be reminded! And alway, I will have a huge smile on my face in awe of these miracle babies Pictured is Guerin.…

Our beloved Fred had gone in for grooming today, received call from Dee Farndell saying poor fred had collapsed, so I rushed back meeting husband there and got him straight to the vets. They examined him and pronounced he has arthritis and having severe flare up. Hes now home on strong painkillers and anti-inflamatory drug and ordered to rest, hopefully he will soon be his old self. Fred is 11 years old but has had a good quality of life to date and will hopefully continue to.

I would just like to thank everyone who has been so kind and supportive, over the past few months, re Saffys litter, I am so thrilled with them, there will be a few in the ring next year, (I think one will be in the ring in next month) so they will I hope live up to their expectations.
I wouldn't have been able to get through the feeding and cleaning without everyone's support and hummer. The puppies have all turned out for me, absolutely wonderfully, they are such an even litter, and it…

The SPCS (Setter & Pointer Club Suisse) ran 4 days trials from Nov 19th to 22nd. Glen 'Coppersheen Coalville Lad' was entered in 'Couple' (brace) on the first two days. Day one he found and pointed a hen pheasant in the reeds but could not produce and the judge put up the bird instead. Day two he ran with a Gordon and both dogs had excellent points on wild pheasant.
20 dogs ran, 4 were placed and Glen was one of them with grading 'Very…
