She is a vet, so they will be in good hands. I'm sad to see them go, actually. I know the new mom will take very good care of them and do what must be done when the time comes. It is not the same as a heart attack, it is basically a weakness in the wall of the aorta, which the dog is born with, and can rupture at anytime.
Did you have a post mortem done at the time and do you mind if I ask what lines she came from?
