The Judge of IRWS yesterday didnt have a clue about them i was the only clear coated dog and he commentd on that, and then procceded to put first in the grad class a youngster so fat roaned ticked couldnt be gone over and erratic on the move..then in my class put another who was exactly the same with an awful expression..then as the handler changed dogs she handled the youngster, the Judge thought it was the one that had won in my class and actually gave it to the youngster..by this time my face had said everything and i had lost the will to live (grin) so needless to say he is in my little book as not to show unde again...if people want to Judge a particular breed why dont they read up on standards first before accepting EVERYTHING!!! it makes me so mad, as i show two minority breeds who end up tagged onto a Judges list at shows because of it

Come on Carol you too into the middle of the ring! Its the only way; I know you're started so keep going on down that road!

For the Int Beauty title in Ireland you need 4 wins under 4 different judge and also 1 year in between the 1st and last won CACIB. All can be done in Ireland, 1 country is enough and you need your working test to get the title.

No more working test for the International Show Champions since 1st Jan 2009!

Hi all! I see you've had our swiss allround judge Laurant Pichard officiating - I believe he once had Hartsbournes from Sybil Lennox before going into American Cockrs in he big way.

re the FCI titles I think Ireland has always had a special agreement there, but I wonder how things will be now that there are two International Chmapion titles to compete for. The first is the 'original' Champion International de Beauté (CHIB) where Setter & Pointers must gain 2 CACIBs in two different countries under 2 different judges with 1 year between first and last plus a placing in a field trial. The new title is the Champion International d'Exposition (CIE) wher 4 CACIBs in 4 different countries are required but no working test.
Confused?...

Now what is this about politics? I thought it was the french who were the experts there... surely not Ireland as well???

Talking about the French did you hear that at the International show of Amiens,France last Sunday the IB was refused to a bitch which measures, 60.5cms because she is .5cms over the size recommended by the French Red Club!!!
Thought it was the Irish FCI standard to be used on International shows?? Not for the French apparently;

In Ireland we will not get the 2e Champion's title yet, perhaps next year ( Int Ch )

Politics are alive and well in Ireland at the present time!!! And not just my view(as I am still a relative newcomer(8years)) This is also opinion of many exhibitors of 20 or 30 years!!! We have an upcoming gundog judge who has been showing for just a years(little or no experience!) Already has judged an open show!??

Politics at Dog Shows?
Never!
Actually, at the show on Saturday, a certain Irish Setter exhibitor was seen and heard hugging and kissing the Group Judge. She also told him how successful her bitch has been and then went on to win the Group!
I have to say that Mr Pichard's judging left a lot to be desired.
Since when is hackney action to be rewarded in Irish Setters? Also, before the Irish went into the ring, the word went around that he was into movement. Well, it appears that his definition of good movement has nothing to do with soundness, just speed and endurance, of the handlers, not the dogs.

I have always said that the dogs are great, as are SOME of the people, it's just a shame that the politics has to spoil it!! Unfortunately it's not just our breeds either, but seems to be right across the breeds and also world wide. Seems that human nature will always find a way to 'get round' things when competition comes into it. If that is the only way they can win then they can't have much faith in their dogs can they?

When I first started showing a good friend of mine asked me if I wanted to know how to do well with my dog. Of course I said I did and what she then told me had me in hysterics, unfortunately she wasn't joking!! This is what she said:
If you want to do well with your dog in the show ring you need to:
Become a Judge
Become a Breeder
Spend all day in the bar byuing drinks for everyone
If the judge is male wear a short skirt and low cut top
If the judge is gay get a male friend to show the dog
Last of all; Sleep with the judges.

I have to say that in the first 5 years I saw all of that and more besides

Having said that, there are honest judges out there and honest exhibitors.....we just don't seem to hear about them very often!!
