Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
I wonder what Glen would enjoy most for Christmas...
A bone? Hmm, not bad.
A bit of female company? That sounds better.
A day out hunting? BRILLIANT!
So that is what we did, we spent a day in the Alsace with friends and Glen enjoyed a bit of hunting with François Boitier (I do not shoot so can't take Glen hunting myself).
Another thrill was seeing 'Glen Junior du Domaine du Fuchsberg' having a first session on partridge. He stole the show!
The day started off looking like this...
But no way were we going to be put off!
Glen setting off on rough ground, hunting through thick undergrowth where the pheasants have a very fair chance of getting away.
'Spot the dog'... no wonder all Irish Setters used to be Red & White!
close-up...
Success! Well shot, François!
"Yummie, a pheasant for my Christmas dinner"
And now it is up to Glen Junior, 7 months old and first time out.
François Boitier, professional trainer, gets the best out of the dogs.
But even he did not foresee that Glen-J is not just a setter but a natural retriever! :-))
A Happy Christmas for Glen!
First time we saw this castle in the snow. We will certainly be back - in 2012!
Best Wishes to all friends for Christmas and the New Year.
Brilliant present indeed and beautiful photos!! I just wondered what do you get for Christmas...? - I suppose you'll have to get a turkey after Erin and Reba have joined in the pheasant feast :-)))
The close up is realy marfeless!!
I envy you.
Thank you all for your lovely comments! No need to worry about my Christmas, Cornelia: I am happy when my dogs are happy, never mind the Turkey:-))
What a great way to start the Christmas holiday!
Very true, Astrid:-))))))))))))))))))
A Star of a dog! Have fun with both your boys in 2012
Thank you!
Maggie, they don't both belong to me - only Glen is my dog... Glen-Junior belongs to Monique. I am beginning to wish he were mine too!!! ;-)
Thanks, Eva, the problem is the more he gets the more he wants! (Just like us) ;-) Glen is feeling chuffed if it is him you refer to as 'a young dog'. He is 6 years old - time flies!
Glenn is a very lucky dog, great day in the field:-)
Great dogs and beautiful photos!
brilliant and super fotos
