Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Yesterday, when I went outside into our garden, there was this young mouse on our pateo, probably only a few weeks old.

Of course the first thing I did think of, was aiming for a portrait, but this proved to be very difficult with all these blades of grass.

Then I thought it might be hungry and went inside to fetch some cheese fom the fridge.

Hearing the fridge and smelling the cheese brought Joy on the scene in no time and what else I could I do in a situation like that, but feeding them both!

I don't know what went on in that redhead of mine, but Joy was fascinated by the quietly nibbeling youngster, who seemed neither afraid nor tickelish.

So here's our setters new occupation: Guarding a mouse!

Joy had the mouse in her mouth, as a matter of fact, but I said 'no' and she let go - I do think, she did a great job and also the mouse added her part by not running away - that would have change things quite a bit!!! In the end, I had to carry Joy inside the house before putting the mouse to a safer place ...

Wow, super photos!
But I don't know what you have done to Joy as she can't possibly be her mother's daughter: Erin will pounce, crunch and swallow before you even have time to snip your fingers:-(

Lovely pictures and cute little mouse and I don't mind them outside but not when the cat brings them into the house alive. I'm afraid in my house the mouse would have been a swallowed one too.

Wow! My dog probably would have squished the poor little mouse in an effort to get to it first...
