Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

I want to show you all our beautiful road, a quiet "No Through" road, with only eight homes on it Our council, Mundaring Shire, Perth, Western Australia, want to widen and bitumise this road, at a cost of nearly half a million dollars to its ratepayers - a road length of only about 600 metres, effectively making it a "Rolls Royce" road to nowhere! All the residents are against this, and if we cannot stop the madness, bulldozing will start at the end of this month of November, 2010. Many, many trees will go, which are at least 200 years old, as well as the Grass Tree, known as Zanthoreas, a protected species. These too are ancient, and abundant in our road, and are so old, many are double and triple headed, standing at least two or three metres tall.

We are fighting this in grand style and have enlisted politicians, including our state leader, the Premier of Western Australia. We have Environmentalists on board, and expect this issue to be raised in State Parliament shortly. I want this to be aired, so that when someone "googles" William Road, it will help bring to shame Mundaring Shire - a shire who should represent the Hills of Western Australia, but appears to have lost sight of this fact.

Let's hope, you will soon be able to look back with pride on those beautiful trees, knowing they'll stil be there, when those who wanted to chop them down are loooong gone - best of success with your campain!!!

Such a shame a beautiful area. But it is beginning to happen here in NZ too. Councils being driven by money and profit at the cost of countryside, native plants and wildlife. All the best with your campaign
