WHAT ON EARTH HAS THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE DONE!!!!!!

These last few weeks have been so very difficult for so many people, what with the terrible floods in Queensland, which continued south, in to other states of Australia.Even Tasmania had flooding. Then the incredible cyclone, which annhilated towns like Tully, just adding to Queensland's misery. On the Western side of the country, Carnarvon has twice flooded, and cyclones have damaged places like Karratha. Freak weather and storms tore through two towns just 40 minutes from Perth, tearing roofs from about 32 homes, and causing huge dust storms. The fires continue in the hills, with 1200 hectares burned out in one major fire, and unbelievably 72 homes destroyed in another. MIraculously no lives lost. One kennel property completely destroyed, but fortunately the dogs were all saved.

And now our dear New Zealand friends are suffering with the devastating earthquake. Since September last year, when they experienced the first big jolt, they have endured 5000 after-shocks, ending with yesterday's intensity.

So...to all ES members, throughout these compromised areas, just letting you know we are all thinking of you, and sending our very best wishes. Stay safe.

Lovely Myra, I do recognise you big heart at work here!!! Indeed a summary of very unpleasant news and I would like to join all of us in ES concerned about your safety and well being, and send you all "down under" a very warm hug from Ireland.

It is a very sad time here in NZ. The first two names of the dead to be released by police being two boys aged 9 and 5 months. Things are far worse than we first thought when the earth quake struck on Tuesday with nearly 100 dead and over two hundred still missing. I am in daily contact with Sharyn Latchford and Leslie Emms from Marindallas Kennels and today both seemed a little brighter although both still worried and tired with all the aftershocks. Thanks to all my friends on ES for the lovely e mails although we are away from the earthquake zone. We really do appreciate it and love to you all. XXX

Our thoughts are with everyone in Christchurch at this time.We have managed to contact friends and family and are so glad to know you are all safe.  A most tragic series of events have been happening in the southern hemisphere.

Our prayers are with Grant who is working round the clock trying to rescue survivors, and with Susan our daughters mother in law and grandmother to Michael.

The list is endless it is very worrying times for us all.  You are all constantly in our thoughts and letd hope these tragedies are now over and lives can be rebuilt both in N Z and Australia

I hope and pray that you are all safe and your lovely reds are too!. Can't imagine what you are all going through over there.

The "Downunder Setter Lovers" group members have also sent prayers and thoughts to our NZ members.

Gayle Sheridan's family (who live south of Christchurch) and her reds are OK and Pat Aldridge is OK too.

Any anyone heard from Rhys Dwyer and his family?

love from Cheryl, Qld.

Hi Guys

I spoke to Rhys earlier and they are all good. He was near the centre of Christchurch when the earth quake hit but thank goodness was not hurt. Infact today their lovely boy Reuben won best of breed at the Ashburton Show, good on you guys. To Dee Farndell hope all your family are well, if there is anything I can do let me know. Love to you all. JO.XXX
