"Hi all! I posted on this thread back in 2010 (where does the time go???!) My advice then was that each person should choose whether to neuter or not with a clear conscience ... there is no wrong or right answer and all decisions are made…"
"Cash is adorable, we had our IS neutered at 16 months of age as he had a retained testicle ( we had previously posted on forum for advice). In the end we made the decision to do this to lower the risk of cancer and pain Perry may encountered due to…"
"What a discussion and I probably should have signed in earlier to it.
Rauri turns 3 in December and I made the decision to have him neutered, date is set tomorrow. I agonized over this and read and read about the health issues and finally…"
"Lori I am Susan Loconsole. Request friend me on FB please. Hopefully your on there. I don't get on here much anymore and use the setter forums on FB mostly. Irish Setter Lovers mainly. I would love to keep in touch…"
Thanks for responding so quickly! We're looking forward to getting our puppy from Gail. Our 13.5 yr old Riley passed away on Feb 10. It was devastating, still is. He was my baby. I know the puppy will help. We're getting a male.…"
"Hi Lori nice to meet you. I haven't been on this site in a long time. I adore my Anamacara boy Cashel. My best friend. He is 4 1/2 now. Gail Jackson has been really great and helpful. I would get a puppy from…"
"Hahaha. Obviously she has had her head buried in quick sand with regards to ready-made meals. LOL LOL LOL Or maybe she is partial to a bit of horse meat here and there. If you shop in Tesco's you are bound to bump into her in the…"
"Well done Finn I think you were winning from the first hurdle. Trish you talk so much sense, I have recently found out that Abbie was put on 4 - 5 times the dose of medication that the AHT would recommend, two days before she had a major stroke,…"
"Hi Andy, sorry for the late reply. No, I am not feeding raw now. It is not my choice but the dogs choice. They where used to eat dry food, I tried to feed them raw but they didn't like it. Now I am feeding the best dry food and give them some…"
"Most of the dietary information vets receive at Uni is provided by, and paid for by, dog food manufacturers. I suspect she also recommended you a food that was available for purchase in your reception!
I was pleasantly surprised when Bess had her…"
This is a great group. I'm sure you will have lots of fun here.
I have an Irish and an English Setter. We got them as baby puppies
together and they've now just turned 7. The light of my life.
Enjoy, and hope you can post some more photo's soon.
Hello Susan, We are a rather large family here on the site we dont all know one and other personally so it makes it nice making friends. You can also keep in touch with those you know also and may be lucky enough to meet.Enjoy this site it grows on you...
Hi Susan, and welcome, the site is great and it's so nice to be able to contact other owners who adore their setters...I also had a problem with my Abbi who was rather on the lean side..she has never been very interested in food...would rather be outside having fun..I found some interesting recipes on the internet..which I tried and have had great success with...they are definately worth a try..best wishes..sammi
If possible, try not to let the cost of medication/diagnosis affect your decision. I have friends who put their dog down in June because the med. she needed would be expensive and they are regretting it tremendously, as they can redo that decision and they miss her so much...
Sorry to hear of your problems with your boy , try to remain positive. My boys are both related to Michelle Websters boy Geordie, and we meet him at a show a few weeks ago and he is a picture of health, he has come through and so can Dublin Regards Neil
