French bred, owned and trained Irish setters dominated international spring trials held in Sarry, in the French champagne region. But the European championship was without winners
Prize-winners were under more
Urtis de la Chaume di Rigault and
Apache des Sorcieres du Sancy. Both were trialed and trained for their owners by French professional trainer
Daniel Munini.
Three days of trialing in French fields around start of spring provided an event…

Some of you know already the story of our struggle for Toffee's life. After the whelping everything seemed to be OK, Toffee had milk, started feeding the puppies and seemed to be bit tired but fine. Usually the bitch is "cleanig herself" few day after the whelp. But with Toffee the bleeding started. It was comming from the inside of her uterus. Four days after the whelping we had to ask the vet to come and make ultrasound - we thought there might be…

I am thrilled to say that the love of my life gained his champion title on Sunday at the NZKC Championship show in Auckland. The judge was Mr Graham Saltiel from New Zealand. Danny was my introduction to the breed and despite being a very English line looking boy we persisted and our work has paid off for us. Thankfully we have had some wonderful judges this year such as Rui Oliveira, Anna Spanswick and…

Rachel Page Elliott, writer, researcher and world authority on dogs, has passed away in America at 96.
Having long crusaded in educating owners to the importance of recognising rights and wrongs in gait, Rachel had published, in 1973, "Dogsteps," which she also illustated along with Eva Andrade. This superb book on canine anatomy and movement was acknowledged a year later by the Dog Writers Association of America, as the Best Dog Book of the Year, and yet another year later, Rachel was…

My Wanda turned 10 years old on Friday the 20th of March.
Happy birthday my dear!
You are still young as a puppy and you have been one of the best huntingdogs ever. Hundreds of grouses have been shot with your help and you have spred out the word of irish setter being an exellent hunting dog to hundreds of clients.
When seeing you work many hunters have wanted a setter like you for a hunting companion.…

We had to share the tasks this weekend. We were in front of a dilemma: to take part at the same time in the dog shows of Wieze in Belgium and Neukirchen in Germany. Finally, thanks to our dear friend Philippe Deram, it was decided: Fletcher and Heaton would be in Wieze, Frisbee and Gracelynn with Neukirchen. And it was a master stroke.
CAC Wieze (B) - Juge: Mr. V. O'Brian (IRL)
Heaton of McBirdy (and Annie Cheron its mistress) continue their training. Heaton is classified…

We did it! Timmy is now CH Captiva Gold Sovereign, JH. My very first hunt title : )
And he did it in style, scoring 9-9-9-8 to get his 4th pass and JH title, and then getting 10-10-9-9 for a bonus leg. 10's are the maximum given in any category, I'm so proud of him!!!!!!!
