Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

No future. No chance. That was start of 2010 for Thomas. See http://irishsetters.ning.com/profiles/blogs/therapy-setter-needs-th... Thomas is now in focus for matings with both Irish red and white setters and Irish red setters.

His owner Tonny Labohm made him after a shelter-period in my kennels into the most eyecatching Irish setter of the Netherlands, starring in the Animal Event and lately at the stand of the Irish Setter Club of the Netherlands on the Amsterdam Winners show. He caught much more attention than showsetters. "Wow, looks like setters in my youth" many a visitor said.

As well he fulfilled the Hunting course of the ISCN as one of the best (the best was his halfbrother Harry). Looks like a Rolling Stonetrick: from nowhere to anywhere. In my view one of the best setterstories for 2010/2011.

Good luck to all of you!

I Hope that Thomas as well as Harry will compete in some field trials next year?

The Irish setter is in great need off those dogs!

Plan is -after a telephonecall of Tommy Pedersen- to train & trial in Danish springtrials. More working setterfanciers are interested, the breeder of your dog as well. I cannot compete much -but do hunt- in 2011, due to a study, takes normally four years in a years time. Makes you feel young again. I expect to be in the race again in 2012 with two youngsters: one red and white and one red both by Thomas! First go: Andalusia. Booked already!

Join the Danish party or train/trial elsewhere. We need to get the Irish setter back on its original trail especially for its health. Aint that the best 2011 wish?

Beautiful expression Myra, theres not one like that in Dutch (around a million words-half of the number of English words). Yes it seems Thomas entered the promised land.

Looks like Thomas and his owner are heading for a special year. I'l be looking out for your next blog 'Thomas - Part III'

Good luck to all!

Thanks Susan. Thomas is in my eyes the type of sporting Irish setter abandoned by show and field. So I hope he will contribute in a resurrection all colours! But he's happy now and that is his first win.
